The tax rate for 2007 has been set by The Mayfield City Council. The tax rate will be 31.5 cents per $100 of assessed value. The rate this year is down from last year (33 cents), however your assessment may have increased (due to city properties being reassessed) therefore you may not see a change in your tax bill. The school tax rate will remain the same for the upcoming year, 68.3 cents per $100. Please remember that if you are 65 years of age or receiving disability benefits you may qualify for a homestead exemption. This will reduce your assessment by $31,400.00. If you have a question concerning this issue please contact the PVA office at 270.247.3301 or simply take your drivers license or proof of disability to Mr. Carr's office in the Graves County courthouse.
If you have purchased a new property within the city limits this year and did not receive a tax bill, please contact our office. If you sold a piece of property this year and you received a tax bill, please forward that bill to the new owner. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact our office. Once again this year the city clerk's office will be open until 6:00 pm on December 31, 2007 to accept last minute tax payments.
